Storm Shelter Installation
We would like to
share with you the process of installing a storm shelter. The process
will be the same for any of our in-ground storm shelters, up to step 6. At this
point if, we are installing a Flat Top Shelter in a new home foundation, or
patio, the foundation would be poured.
The Best Storm Shelter installation process is as follows:

Step 1) Selecting a Location
Selecting the right location for your Best Storm Shelter is important. You want to locate
your storm shelter in a spot that you and your family can reach
safely in the event of an emergency. Keep in mind any in-ground
septic tanks, water tables or other underground obstructions.
|
 |
Step 2) Making Room
After you have located the spot where you will be placing your Best Storm
Shelter,
a hole must be dug. This hole is usually 48-52" deep to accommodate almost the entire bottom section of the shelter. This
way, you know your shelter is deeply rooted in the ground, making
it safe and secure.
|
 |
Step 3) Leveling and Preparing
Next, the crew will make sure the walls and floor of the hole
are level, so that your Best Storm Shelter will sit level and not be tilted
in any direction.
|
 |
Step 4) Placing the Shelter Bottom
Once the hole is level and ready for your Best Storm Shelter, the crew will
lower the bottom part of the shelter into the ground. The shelter
is checked to make sure it is level and is firmly seated before
going on to the next step.
|
 |
Step 5) Preparing for the Top,
Placing the Top
The seal between the top and bottom is checked and then a generous
bead of sealant is applied. The top is then lowered carefully
onto the bottom, making sure that the seal between the top and
bottom lines up. Once the top is firmly seated, it is then bolted
to the bottom, securing it in place.
|
 |
Step 6) Finishing it Out
Once your Best Storm Shelter is in place and the top is firmly
secure, we replace the excess soil removed to make the hole.
This soil is placed around the top of the shelter and into the
gaps around the sides in the hole itself. Once this process is
complete, your shelter is now installed. And you can rest assured
that if or when disaster strikes, you are prepared.

is installed. Here at Best Storm Shelters,
